Review: Firelight by Kristen Callihan

Review: Firelight by Kristen Callihan

I was hanging out on twitter, as usual, when a random tweet from Kristen Callihan mentioned a NA book she had just written. My eyes whipped back so fast I think I strained a muscle as I furiously pounded out a review request. Callihan writes the Darkest London series, one of my favorite paranormal historical romance series, so I went into the story feeling confident. What I got out of it was so much more. This is New Adult done right, folks. So I figured, if anyone can sell me on a college football romance, it would be her. The problem was that Anna wanted absolutely nothing to do with the star quarterback. She needed to nail down what the hell she wanted to do with the rest of her life.

Serie Game On – Kristen Callihan

No falling in love Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life. Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good. If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him.

Too bad he’s committed to making her break every rule

But I ride a scooter. And the bees kept to the flowers. The truth is, I stopped to down a Diet Coke and a bag of cashews before heading to class. Even so, I hate being late. It sets a bad precedent. I slide into a seat in the back just as a guy barrels down the aisle in the same hurried fashion and sits in the desk next to mine. Keeping my head down, I pull out my notepad and try to look organized and ready for the lecture.

The shocked sound has me turning. The sensation is so unnerving that I can only sit there, my hand fluttering to my chest where my heart struggles to break free. Oddly, the guy gapes back at me, as if he too feels the strange kick. Which must be wrong; no guy has ever gaped at me. Stranger still, it feels as if I know him, have known him for years.

Review: The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan

There is no reason for him to fall so fast and hard for Anna Jones — buxom redhead, former high school wallflower now one half of the most gossiped about hook-up at their college. I miss stories around the small town mythology of school football. I miss stories about young demi-football-gods and how playing the game they love sometimes creates moral and ethical conundrums for them — and all this without me knowing jack-all about American football!

In this football story, our female protagonist is Anna Jones — a young woman who is still haunted by the emotional bullying she experienced in high school, particularly concerning her appearance.

The tip of my randy dick presses against the cold tiles, and I find myself nudging forward just to alleviate the pressure. My orgasm hits in a series.

If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him. Football has been good to Drew. But what he really craves is sexy yet prickly Anna Jones. Her cutting humor and blatant disregard for his fame turns him on like nothing else.

The Hook Up

And it’s beautiful to me, but I didn’t know how to live under your light. That is only gloss. But, Anna, you light me up. I don’t have a light anymore unless you’re there.

That is until HE sat next to me. Nothing and no one gets to him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart. Let the battle begin… I just finished Managed and I swear I want to start over and read it again. It exceeded my expectations on every level. With a clever story, witty dialog, and winsome characters, I had a perma-smile on my face the entire time I was reading. I have the stretch marks on my cheeks as proof.

This is a fresh perspective on the rock star romance trope. You do have your typical wildly popular rock band; however, the focus is on their uptight manager instead of the band members.

Rest in peace my friend. I know that you are at peace and were greeted by those who went before you. He and your Mom were such a big part of my happy memories growing up. Our deepest condolences to you and your family on the loss of your Dad. Que descanse en paz. He is in peace.

Released on February 1, Pages: I was so intrigued to read this book since it has many components that I find enjoyable. First, it combines historical romance with fantasy, but secondly, there is intrigue. Miranda Ellis has lived a hard life. Her mother died while she was young and her father is the polar opposite of a father of the year candidate.

He is a thief and conniver with no paternal feelings for his children particularly Miranda since he threatens and manipulates her to serve his own needs. He made her take up thievery by playing on her guilt and desire to please him. Her existence is bleak until a cursed and lonely man offers her an out. In an experiment gone bad, he was changed and disfigured.

Now he leads a shadow existence where he is feared and just his presence revolts people. The only bright spot of his existence came from a chance encounter with a beautiful, fearless young girl whom he rescued from some toughs in a back alley. He was there to kill her father because Hector Ellis double-crossed him in business and sent his pirates who boarded and sank the ship bringing his last hope for a possible cure.

Today, I’m continuing my string of New Adult romances with terrific characters in The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan.I’m a little shocked that this was Ms. Callihan’s first contemporary romance (I guess she’s written some paranormal).

And then she does again. And book 3 will be out in just a few days!!! If you liked The Deal you may want the try The Hookup. They had a similar vibes. Drew did it for me. He knew from the start that she is the one and I wish all men were like that. I just finished The HookUp and I loved it too! Similar to The Deal, but without the funny moments!
